Tim Eiag gehört einer Künstlergeneration an, die im Kontext der politischen und sozialen Umbrüche ihrer Zeit nach einem neuen künstlerischen Selbstverständnis suchen musste. Für Eiag selbst wurden die Einflüsse seiner Studienzeit im Wien der ausgehenden 60er Jahre ebenso prägend, wie anschließende Arbeitsaufenthalte in den USA. Die Strategie der „Vernetzung“ übertrug er sinnfällig in seine temporären und teils partizipatorischen Aktionen. Mit einer Installation anlässlich der Olympiade 1972 in München, stellte Eiag seine Arbeit in den Kontext einer breiten Öffentlichkeit. Gelbe Bänder wurden von den Besuchern miteinander verknüpft und raumgreifend verwoben. Am Ende der Aktion wurde das Material zu einem riesigen runden Knäuel zusammengerollt. Die beiden Arbeiten im Hofgarten resümieren diese Arbeitsweise, indem sie sowohl den installativen Moment an der Fassade des Theatermuseums präsentieren, als auch die Transformation ins Relikt vorwegnehmen, die in der Arbeit „poliTisch“ nachvollziehbar wird.
Tim Eiag belongs to a generation of artists who had to search for a new artistic self-understanding in the context of the political and social upheavals of their time. For Eiag himself, the influences of his student days in Vienna at the end of the 1960s were just as formative as subsequent work stays in the USA. He transferred the strategy of "networking" to his temporary and partly participatory actions. With an installation on occasion of the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Eiag placed his work in the context of a broad public. Yellow ribbons were linked together by the visitors and interwoven in an expansive manner. At the end of the action, the material was rolled up into a huge round ball. The two works in the Hofgarten sum up this working method by presenting both the moment of installation on the façade of the Theatre Museum and anticipating the transformation into a relic that becomes comprehensible in the work "poliTisch".
